Williamson County · Texas
Round Rock site plans and permits.
Round Rock asks for a permit for every wood deck or covered patio, and publishes its deck fees.
Building code
2024 International Residential Code.
Deck permit
A permit is required for a wood deck or a covered patio. The city states no size or height exemption.
Sheds
Even a shed under 200 sq ft needs a permit. Accessory structures can be at most 15 ft to the highest point.
Owner-drawn plans
The city asks for legible construction plans with dimensions and materials. Its pages don't say who must draw them.
Setbacks
Decks and accessory structures may not reach into setbacks or easements.
Fees
Uncovered deck with no electrical or plumbing: $125. Covered deck: $200. Covered with electrical or plumbing: $300.
Where to apply
What Round Rock asks the site plan to show.
- Property survey or plot plan marking where the deck goes
- Distance in feet from the deck to each property line
- Construction plans with dimensions and materials
Your DrawPermit site plan draws the lot lines, north arrow, scale, structures, setbacks, distances to each line and impervious cover. Add utility lines, meters and trees by hand if your city asks for them.
